What began as a simple welfare check involving a woman and her dogs turned into a chaotic and terrifying ordeal for responding officers in Oklahoma this week. Police bodycam footage captured the moment a handcuffed woman somehow managed to grab a hidden weapon and fire shots at officers — all while they were trying to assist her.
According to the police report, officers were dispatched to a small residence after neighbors reported dogs left unattended and aggressive barking coming from inside. When officers arrived, they found a woman in her 40s who appeared agitated and uncooperative.
Concerned for her safety — and that of the animals — officers detained her temporarily in handcuffs while they tried to calm the situation and arrange care for the dogs. That’s when the unthinkable happened.
As one officer turned to speak with animal control, the woman managed to reach into the front pocket of her hoodie and pull out a small handgun that had gone unnoticed during the initial search. Before officers could react, she fired a shot that narrowly missed them and struck a wall behind.
