What started as a reckless prank on a quiet highway has ended in heartbreak for five teenagers — and a courtroom filled with tears. The teens, aged between 15 and 18, were sentenced to life imprisonment after their “stone-throwing game” caused a fatal accident that claimed an innocent man’s life.
The case has captured nationwide attention, sparking a heated debate over accountability, intent, and justice for both the victim and the young defendants.
According to police reports, the incident took place late one evening when the group of friends gathered on an overpass. They reportedly began tossing rocks onto passing cars “for fun.” But what they thought was harmless mischief turned tragic when one large rock smashed through a windshield, striking a 32-year-old father who was driving home from work. He died instantly.
The teens fled the scene but were arrested days later after surveillance footage and forensic evidence tied them to the crime.
During the trial, prosecutors argued that the group acted with gross negligence, knowing the danger their actions posed. The lead prosecutor said,
“They treated life like a joke. Their choices took away a father, a husband, and a son. That is not a prank — that is destruction.”
