“3-Year-Old Found Starving in Filthy, Roach-Infested Apartment — Police Release Disturbing Bodycam”
A horrifying case of child neglect has shocked the nation after police bodycam footage revealed the moment a severely malnourished 3-year-old was rescued from a roach-infested apartment in Ohio. The child, who weighed only 16 pounds — less than half the healthy average for his age — was found barely able to stand when officers entered the home.
Authorities were called to the residence after a concerned neighbor reported constant crying and foul odors coming from the apartment. When officers arrived, they were met with a stench so overwhelming that one described it as “unforgettable.”
The footage, released by the police department, shows the moment officers entered the cluttered home — trash piled up to the walls, cockroaches crawling across furniture, and rotting food scattered on the floor. In the middle of it all, they discovered the child, frail and visibly terrified, wearing a heavily soiled diaper.
“He looked like he hadn’t eaten properly in months,” one officer said. “You could see every rib.”
The child was immediately rushed to the hospital, where doctors determined he was suffering from extreme malnutrition, dehydration, and neglect. Medical staff said the child’s weight was equivalent to that of a healthy 6-month-old infant.

The child is now recovering under the care of child protective services, and doctors say he is responding well to treatment. “He’s eating, smiling, and finally gaining weight,” said one hospital nurse. “It’s like he’s getting a second chance at life.”
