In a twist so unbelievable it sounds like a movie scene, a 17-year-old teenager who tried to rob a convenience store ended up calling the police for help — after trapping himself inside during the failed robbery attempt.
The bizarre incident took place late one evening at a small corner shop when the masked teenager stormed in, demanding money from the cashier. Security footage shows the suspect entering the store wearing a gray jacket and gloves, holding what appeared to be a weapon. But things didn’t go according to his plan.
As the startled cashier triggered the emergency lock system — designed to keep robbers inside until authorities arrive — the teen quickly realized he had walked straight into a trap.
Moments later, the footage shows him frantically trying to escape, pushing and pulling on the door, even kicking it several times in desperation. Shelves toppled over, snacks flew everywhere, and the store was left in chaos — all while the terrified teen realized he couldn’t get out.
Panicking, he did something no one could have expected — he called the police himself.
According to reports, the teenager dialed emergency services, claiming he was “stuck in a store” and needed help. When officers arrived, they found the young man still trapped behind the locked doors, pacing and begging to be let out.
When police reviewed the surveillance footage, the story quickly unfolded: the would-be thief had attempted a robbery but ended up calling the very people he was trying to avoid.
“He didn’t even make it out with anything,” one officer commented. “By the time we arrived, he was more scared than anyone else.”
The teen was taken into custody without incident and is now facing multiple charges, including attempted robbery and property damage. However, authorities noted that his lack of experience — and his immediate call for help — might influence his sentencing.
Store owner Ahmed Rahman said he was stunned by the situation. “I couldn’t believe it,” he said. “I installed the security lock for safety, but I never thought it would actually trap a robber — and then he’d call the police himself!”
The story has since gone viral, with many social media users dubbing the teenager the “world’s most polite robber” and creating memes of him waiting for the cops to rescue him from his own crime scene.
While the incident may sound humorous, law enforcement officials used the story as a reminder that crime doesn’t pay — and sometimes, it can even backfire in the most embarrassing ways possible.
As for the teen, he reportedly told officers that he “just panicked” and didn’t know what else to do. “It was the worst five minutes of my life,” he said.
Ironically, his call for help worked — but instead of escaping trouble, he called the very people who put him in handcuffs.
