In a scene that looked straight out of a comedy movie, a woman tried to avoid being arrested by pretending to have a seizure — but police bodycam footage quickly revealed her dramatic performance wasn’t fooling anyone.
The bizarre encounter began when officers pulled over a woman suspected of reckless driving and failing to stop at a traffic signal. When they approached her car, she appeared agitated and refused to cooperate. After several warnings and attempts to de-escalate, the officers informed her that she was under arrest. That’s when things took an unexpected turn.
As one officer reached for his handcuffs, the woman suddenly collapsed onto the ground, clutching her head and shaking her hands in what she claimed was a “medical emergency.” The officer immediately called for paramedics, following standard safety protocol — but as they waited, it quickly became clear something wasn’t right.
The woman’s “seizure” conveniently stopped every time someone spoke to her, and she could be heard peeking through her hands, asking, “Am I still under arrest?” At one point, she even rolled over and told the officers she couldn’t move — right before adjusting her jacket and brushing hair from her face.
Bodycam footage showed officers exchanging confused looks as they realized the truth. “Ma’am, if you’re really having a seizure, you wouldn’t be talking to us,” one officer calmly said. Still refusing to stand up, the woman continued her performance until paramedics arrived. But by the time they checked her vitals, she was perfectly fine — no medical distress, no loss of consciousness, and no sign of an actual seizure.
According to the police report, the woman later admitted that she had faked the episode in hopes of avoiding jail. Unfortunately for her, that decision only made things worse. In addition to her initial charges, she now faces an extra charge for obstruction of justice.
The video of the incident quickly went viral after being shared by police, sparking a flood of online reactions. Viewers couldn’t believe what they were seeing. “This is the most dramatic thing I’ve seen all week,” one commenter joked. Another added, “If she spent this much effort following the law, she wouldn’t be in this situation!”
Experts have warned that faking medical emergencies during police encounters can backfire dramatically. It diverts emergency resources, wastes taxpayer money, and could even lead to criminal charges. “Pretending to have a seizure isn’t just dishonest — it’s dangerous,” said one retired officer. “Real patients who actually need help could lose valuable response time.”
In the end, the woman’s attempt to avoid arrest didn’t earn her sympathy — it earned her internet fame for all the wrong reasons. The footage has now been used in police training videos as an example of how officers should stay professional, calm, and patient — even when someone tries to outsmart the system with a bit of bad acting.
One thing’s for sure: this was one performance she’ll never live down.
